Zigbee is a low-power wireless mesh protocol that allows smart devices to communicate with each other within your home automation system, with longer ranges and lower power consumption compared to WiFi devices.

Similar to Z-Wave, it's ideal for smart homes as communication between devices is reliable, not impacted by other devices on the network or internet connectivity (WiFi), power consumption is very low and much greater distances can be achieved.

A Zigbee-enabled home automation system or hub is required to use Zigbee devices, such as a Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant, combined with a Zi-Stick USB Zigbee 3.0 gateway or a Nabu Casa ZBT-2.
