The ThirdRealityZigbee Door Sensor is a compact, battery-powered sensor designed to keep track of doors and windows while fitting neatly into a wide range of smart home setups. Built on the Zigbee 3.0 standard, it integrates smoothly with popular platforms including Home Assistant, SmartThings, Aeotec, Hubitat, Homey, and Echo devices with a built-in Zigbee hub. This makes it a flexible choice whether you’re building out a new system or adding to an existing Zigbee network.
Setup is straightforward and wireless. Once the sensor is in pairing mode, compatible Zigbee hubs or Echo devices can discover it automatically, keeping installation quick and fuss-free. The slim sensor and magnet are well suited to most indoor doors and windows, and the unit runs on two standard AAA batteries (included) with a typical lifespan of up to two years, so ongoing maintenance is minimal. It’s intended for indoor use and should not be mounted on metal surfaces.
Once connected, the ThirdReality Zigbee Door Sensor becomes a useful trigger for automations and alerts. You can create routines to switch on lights, send notifications, or trigger announcements when a door or window opens.
