This is an ideal starter kit for any Meshtastic and LoRa/LoRaWAN projects! The kit combines the XIAO ESP32S3 microcontroller with the Wio-SX1262 LoRa module to add Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and LoRa, which opens up the possibilities to what you can create next! This added wireless connectivity makes it ideal for various Internet of Things (IoT) projects. It is compatible with the XIAO Expansion Board for adding screens and sensors, and you can also add Grove sensors via the Grove Expansion Board.
The XIAO ESP32S3 has a dual-core Xtensa 32-bit LX7 processor running at up to 240 MHz, and this processing power is great for trickier tasks. It includes 8MB of Flash and 8MB of PSRAM, giving sufficient memory for program storage and performance. The board supports multiple development environments, including Arduino and MicroPython, ideal for those with different programming preferences. There's also a lithium battery charger and a USB-C connector for power.
The Wio-SX1262 LoRa module goes from 862 to a 930 MHz frequency range, providing long-range communication with low power consumption. It comes pre-flashed with Meshtastic firmware, letting you use it as soon as it is powered on. It includes a built-in power management chip and can be extended via I²C, UART, and other GPIO interfaces, giving you more room for hardware expansions.

XIAO ESP32S3 & Wio-SX1262 Kit for Meshtastic & LoRa
Excellent radio & MCU combination which works well once set up. However, the tiny form factor is very difficult to work with.
The tiny buttons are hard to see, never mind keep pressed while trying to plug in a cable (required to re-flash the board).
Soldering to such closely-spaced pads and pins is extremely difficult, especially if you are inexperienced or not as young as you used to be!
Attaching the antennas required a lot of force, pliers, a third hand and a lot of care.
XIAO ESP32S3 & Wio-SX1262 Kit for Meshtastic & LoRa
Great little chips, giving a cheap way to get into the meshtastic network - adding IoT into everyday things is now possible without breaking the bank and without having to wire big boxes to everything.
