Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 32GB / 8GB / Wireless
A great bit of kit that delivers impressive performance in such a small form factor. It was easy to install with the Home Assistant Yellow, making setup straightforward and hassle-free. It packs a lot of power, so I’d strongly recommend pairing it with a decent heat sink to keep temperatures under control during sustained use. All in all, an excellent choice for anyone building a compact, capable smart home hub.

Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 Lite / 16GB / Wireless
Fantastic bit of kit. More performance than I expected, and the 16gb of RAM is just insane in something so small and compact. Runs warm though, definitey needs a heatsink and fan.

Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 64GB / 16GB / Wireless
Installed into the Home Assistant Yellow, which was really easy! Took some head scratching to install the Home Assistant software onto it, however I gave up using a Mac and tried doing the install with a PC which ended up being pretty easy! Awesome bit of kit!!

Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 64GB / 16GB / Wireless
I recently bought the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (64GB / 16GB / Wireless) from Pi Hut, and I’m honestly impressed on multiple levels—starting with how small this thing actually is. You can see the specs online and know it's compact, but holding it in hand really highlights just how much tech is crammed into this module.
With 64GB of eMMC, 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and built-in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, it’s a serious upgrade over the CM4. The performance bump is immediate and noticeable—boot times, application responsiveness, and overall throughput are just on another level.
What caught me off guard (in a good way) is how well it lends itself to custom PCB projects. I’m already thinking about integrating it into some smart home modules and automation setups. It’s basically a high-performance brain that you can drop into your own designs.
Of course, it’s worth noting that the CM5 uses a new high-speed connector and isn’t compatible with CM4 IO boards. But if you’re building something new—or ordering carrier boards tailored to the CM5—it’s well worth adapting.
