The SupTronicsX1509 is a carrier board designed for all Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 variants. It provides eight SATA 3.0 ports for connecting SATA 6G, 3G and 1.5G drives, with support for up to 176TB of storage based on eight 22TB drives. Drive status LEDs are included for easy monitoring.
The board has 1GbE and 2.5GbEEthernet ports, dual HDMI 2.0 outputs for two 4K displays, dual 22-pin MIPI CSI/DSI connectors, USB ports and a microSD card slot for CM5 Lite models. A functional header also provides I/O connections for an external power button and a 12V PWM fan.
Power can be supplied through a 12V DC jack or 4-pin ATX connector, although ATX could be a better option for power users as most barrel-jack PSUs max out around 8A due to the limits on the connector.
The DC/DC converter provides up to 12A to power the CM5 and connected SATA drives from one supply, with an eight-drive SATA power splitter cable included. When using the DC jack, the board automatically cuts power to the SATA drives when the CM5 shuts down. This function is not available when using the ATX connector.
The X1509 has been tested with Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit and OpenMediaVault, making it suitable for home media servers, NAS systems and CCTV storage.
