The SuptronicsX1017 is a PCIe 3.0 to eight-port SATA expansion board designed for Raspberry Pi 5. It supports simultaneous access to eight SATA 6G, 3G or 1.5G drives, with transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps and a total storage capacity of up to 176TB, based on eight 22TB drives. Individual LED indicators show the status of each connected drive.
The board accepts 12V power through two DC jacks or a 4-pin ATX connector. Its DC/DC converter provides up to 12A to power the Raspberry Pi 5 and connected SATA drives from a single supply, while pogo pins deliver power directly to the Pi. When a DC jack is used, power to the SATA drives is automatically cut when the Pi shuts down. This function is not supported when using the ATX connector. An eight-drive SATA powersplitter cable is included.
The X1017 mounts beneath the Raspberry Pi 5, leaving space above for a HAT. It also includes headers for an external power button and a 12V PWM fan (not included). The board has been tested with Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit and OpenMediaVault, making it suitable for NAS systems, home media servers and CCTV storage.
SSD/HDD, Raspberry Pi, Active Cooler/fan and power supply not included.
Warning: Do not power the X1017 via the 4-pin ATX connector and the DC jack at the same time.
