The 52Pi M.2 NVMe 2280 PoE+ HAT is an expansion board for Raspberry Pi 5 that combines M.2 SSD storage support with Power over Ethernet (PoE+) functionality.
It allows the Raspberry Pi 5 to be powered directly from an Ethernet cable using a PoE+ switch or injector, removing the need for a separate power supply, simplifying cabling, especially for those running multiple Raspberry Pi 5 boards..
This board supports M.2 NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 sizes via an M-key interface - such as the Raspberry Pi SSD. It delivers a 5.1V output at up to 4.5A, providing stable power not just to the Raspberry Pi 5 but also to any attached peripherals. It is designed specifically for compatibility with the Raspberry Pi 5 and includes support for the Active Cooler for thermal management.
Input power is handled over 802.3at (PoE+) up to 25.5W with a power status indicator on the board for immediate feedback. When using this HAT, the USB-C power port must not be connected to an additional power source, as this could damage the board.
52Pi also suggests that this HAT fits within their ZP-0164 Tall Aluminium Cooling Case.
Raspberry Pi, SSD and Active Cooler not included.
