Raspberry Pi Roundup - 13th Feb 2015
It's Friday the 13th. Ooooerrr!
Luckily for you, here's a Raspberry Pi Roundup!
Raspberry Pi 2 stock
We have sold out of our original stock of Pi 2s! But worry not! Over the weekend we take our next shipment, so if you're still after the latest (and greatest) version of the Pi, just wait a couple of days and you'll be able to buy one from us!
Weather
Dave Honess, part of the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s education team, has been working with Oracle on a fantastic project. He has developed a Raspberry Pi weather station board and peripherals that will allow schools to become part of a National network of weather stations. He has just announced on the Raspberry Pi blog that applications for one of the 1,000 units that have been made are now open. You just need to be part of a school that will use the weather station and set it up! You can find out more from their blog post here and apply to be part of the programme here.
Ubuntu
Raspberry Pi forums user wintrmute has created a downloadable SD card image of Ubuntu with the LXDE desktop pre-installed. It has been compiled for use on the ARMv7 Raspberry Pi 2 and you can find instructions on how to install it on TechRepublic. The original thread on the forums can be found here.
MagPi
Community-driven magazine The MagPi has just hit the 30th issue milestone. Articles this month include: An article on improving marine sensor readings with the Pi; building an electronic ping-pong game; exploring PWM motor control; making a maze-building program and much more. You can download the issue or view it online here.
