3DQF PETG is made in Greater Manchester right here in the UK, with tight tolerances, the highest quality material and a fully recyclable custom cardboard spool that's now compatible with the Bambu Labs AMS system (when used with these clever printable spool adaptors). We're big fans of 3DQF filament and it's great to support a fellow small UK business in the maker scene.

This is 3DQF Ultra Blue 1.75mm PETG in a generous 1kg spool. This vibrant blue is going to make awesome display pieces, toys, articulated models and more - it's a real shower! We have more PETG colours available in the store too!

The custom laser-cut cardboard is fully recyclable and includes a filament indicator to help you keep an eye on your remaining filament. 3DQF filament holds a tight tolerance of 0.03mm - and that's over a 52-kilometre run (a human hair is .04!)!

PETG vs PLA

PETG is more durable and offers greater hardness and strength than PLA filament, with a more 'elastic' quality helping with impact strength/shock and moving mechanical parts. It's also resistant to higher temperatures, water, chemical solvents and UV light.

The downsides vs PLA are higher printing temperature requirements, sometimes (heavily debated) not as nice of a finish, and a different approach required for bed adhesion (or over-adhesion!). PETG is usually more expensive as well.

We love using PETG as an interface layer for PLA supports, it makes them release from the model so much easier.

Recommended Printing Parameters

  • Hot end Temperature: 225-250°C
  • Bed Temperature: 70-100°C
  • Like all filament (especially PETG), keep it dry and away from humidity as much as possible (we always dry ours before using, for the belt & braces approach)
  • Consider bed adhesion - PETG can stick too well to glass beds (some use glue stick or hairspray as a barrier layer)

...and always check your bed levels...then check em' again!
