The SparkFun Micro Triple Axis Accelerometer Breakout is a compact, I2C-only board built around the LIS3DH sensor. It’s great for adding basic motion detection to small projects, with 3-axis tracking and low power use. Only the essentials are broken out to keep the size down, so if you need SPI or full pin access, the standard versions are a better fit.
This SparkFun Micro Triple Axis Accelerometer Breakout is an ultra-small, Qwiic-enabled breakout featuring the LIS3DH, a smart, low-power, three-axis, capacitive micro-machined accelerometer with 12-bit resolution, which you can use to add translation detection to your project. This board is classified as a 3DoF or 3 Degrees of Freedom. Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) can provide additional space location data, such as gyroscopic or magnetometric data. The LIS3DH on this breakout operates under the same principles but offers a few analog inputs for experimentation, and it includes built-in movement detection capabilities.
This micro version of the Qwiic breakout only supports communication with the LIS3DH over I2C and, due to size constraints, breaks out only one of the accelerometer's interrupt pins, along with a single ground pin, to plated-through-hole (PTH) pins. Users who want to use the LIS3DH over SPI and access all the chip's pins should consider either the standard LIS3DH Qwiic breakout or the original LIS3DH Breakout.
