The SenseCAP S2104 is a battery-powered wireless LoRaWAN sensor designed for accurate soil moisture and temperature monitoring in demanding environments. It measures soil moisture from 0 to 100% (m³/m³) and temperature from -40°C to 80°C, making it well-suited for agriculture, environmental research, and industrial soil sensing applications. The sensor is housed in a rugged IP66-rated enclosure, providing strong resistance to water, dust, and extreme temperatures.
Designed with long-range LoRaWAN® connectivity, the S2104 can transmit data up to 2km in built-up areas and up to 10km in open line-of-sight conditions, all while maintaining very low power consumption. It’s powered by a replaceable standard Li-SOCl₂ battery (ER34615), offering up to 10 years of battery life. This eliminates the need for mains wiring, significantly simplifying deployment in remote or outdoor sites.
The sensor supports over-the-air updates and configuration via built-in Bluetooth, using the SenseCAP Mate App. This makes setup and management quick and accessible, even for users without technical experience. Combined with the SenseCAP Portal platform, users can remotely configure devices, monitor data, and manage access keys – all through a clean web interface or mobile app.
The S2104 is designed for long-term durability and reliability. It has passed a series of tests including waterproofing, long-range communication, freezing resistance, and high/low temperature operation. It supports a wide range of LoRaWAN® frequency plans (863–928 MHz) and is compatible with common LoRaWAN® networks such as The Things Network, Loriot, and Chirpstack.

The frequency plan setting is none by default, and it will not transmit RF signal until it has been set by the app via Bluetooth at the first power-up. And it can be changed to other frequency plans at any time.
