You’ve set up Home Assistant, and started adding and tracking lots of different devices. Great - but what if those devices are using Bluetooth? What if they’re out of range of your host's Bluetooth connection? What if your host device doesn't even have a Bluetooth connection?
Enter the BT Proxy for Home Assistant - a low-cost, low-power, super-compact way to extend Home Assistant Bluetooth coverage around your home using Wi-Fi, via a standard USB-A port, in a neat little case!
The Bluetooth Proxy uses an ESP32-C3 module to communicate with Bluetooth devices, and relays this back to Home Assistant using Wi-Fi. This gives you the best of both worlds - low-power Bluetooth sensors/devices, with the coverage and range of Wi-Fi. Perfect for compact, battery-powered sensors and tracking phones or other devices around the home - without the usual Bluetooth range limitations.
Set up is quick and easy, just follow our simple user guide, using ESPHome Device Builder. The board has BOOT and RESET buttons, and the USB-A port allows this to be powered around the home (spare chargers, kitchen USB ports, PC ports, Raspberry Pi USB ports, TV etc). There's also an onboard LED that you can control in Home Assistant too.
The Bluetooth Proxy for Home Assistant comes with a simple 3D Printed snap-together case (PLA), in your choice of white or black. We've also uploaded the case STL file for you to print your own cases, or re-mix your own design.
