The Waveshare Dual-Channel M.2 HAT+ for Raspberry Pi 5 adds support for two M.2 NVMe SSDs in Gen2 mode via the Raspberry Pi 5 PCIe interface. It connects directly to the Pi 5's PCIe FPC connector and includes a PCIe switch chip for dual-drive support.
Compatible with M-key M.2 NVMe SSDs in 2230 and 2242 formats (such as the Raspberry Pi SSD), the HAT+ enables high-speed storage expansion for projects requiring rapid local data access or use as a fast boot drive.
The included GPIO riser ensures your IO pins remain accessible with the HAT fitted to your Raspberry Pi, along with metal standoffs and fixings to secure the HAT to your board. An EEPROM is onboard for HAT ID and information.
Dual onboard LED activity indicators allow you to monitor the status of each M.2 device, with a separate power LED. An onboard INA219 power monitoring chip offers the ability to detect voltage and current, to monitor the device status and the input 5V voltage status (not 3.3V). The default I2C address is 0x40, however, the addresses can be modified via back resistors to support the stacking of different expansion boards.
