Disconnect VBUS, USB3, or USB2 signals between USB 3 Type-A plug and socket!
USB3 Sever from 8086 allows you to select which pins are connected between the USB 3 Type-A plug and socket, using seven small DIP switches. Slide the switch to "ON" to connect the signal which is labelled by the side of each switch.
This allows you to connect a USB 2/USB 3 device via power only (8086 call it a "USB Condom" ) and block both USB 2 and USB 3 data, USB 2 data only or data and power, USB 3 data only or data and power, or any other combination of signals.
High-speed USB signals are sent over the DIP switch. There will be some signal degradation which can reduce the length of the cables you can use, and in some cases, may prevent a device from working properly (USB Sever is tested with 5000M USB 3 devices).
VBUS connection is enabled/disabled by the DIP switch but power is switched using a MOSFET which allows up to 1.5 Amp/20 Volts to be switched (1.5A is a limitation of the USB 3 connectors).
GND is always connected between the USB 3 Type-A plug and socket which allows VBUS to be switched bidirectionally (VBUS can be sourced from either plug or socket).
