This USB-C PD to DC barrel cable turns a compatible USB-C Power Delivery adapter into a 5V output up to 5A, using proper PD negotiation and an E-MARK chip — ideal for powering 5.5mm barrel-jack devices.
This cable lets you power devices with a standard 5V DC barrel jack using a USB Type-C Power Delivery (PD) adapter — no more digging through a box of mismatched wall adapters. Plug it into a compatible PD USB-C power supply, and it will provide 5V output at up to 5A, giving you a reliable high-current 5V source from a modern USB-C charger.
Inside the cable is a PD sink negotiation chip. When connected to a PD-capable USB-C adapter that supports 5V, it negotiates with the power supply and requests 5V at up to 5A. Just make sure the adapter you’re using is a PD source — the supported voltage and current levels will be listed on the label.
You might wonder why a PD cable is needed for 5V, since 5V is the default. The key reason is current: anything over 1A should still be negotiated properly. This cable includes an E-MARK chip, which is required by the USB-C specification but is sometimes missing on cheaper cables. That’s what allows it to support high current (up to 5A) safely. It’s also built as a higher-spec USB-C PD cable, making it suitable for more demanding devices, including laptops.
The cable is 1.2 metres long and includes a Velcro tie for easy storage. The barrel connector is 5.5mm outer diameter / 2.5mm inner diameter, centre-positive, which is the most common configuration. If you need centre-negative, you can use a 5.5mm/2.1mm DC barrel polarity reversing adapter on the end. The plug is slightly springy, so it also fits 2.1mm sockets without issue.
