The SupTronics X1208 UPS + PoE Shield for Raspberry Pi 5combines backup power and high-speed storage in a single add-on, designed to keep your system running reliably while protecting your data.
It provides a stable 5.1V / 5A backup power supply, making it suitable for demanding Raspberry Pi setups with multiple peripherals or higher workloads. The onboard power management system monitors the Pi’s state and automatically cuts power after shutdown to conserve battery, while maintaining ultra-low standby consumption. It also handles seamless switching between external power and battery backup, with support for features such as auto power-on, AC power loss detection, and safe shutdown when battery levels are low.
The shield includes a single 21700 battery holder (up to 5000mAh) and supports charging at up to 1500mA. Battery status and control can be accessed via GPIO, with built-in protections for overcurrent, overvoltage, and reverse polarity. A Maxim fuel gauge allows monitoring of battery voltage and percentage over I2C, and onboard LEDs indicate charge levels at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. Power is supplied via USB-C, so there’s no need to change your existing adapter, and the board connects directly through the 40-pin header without additional cables or soldering.
For storage, the integrated M.2 M-key slot supports NVMe SSDs up to 4TB, including common form factors such as 2280, 2242, and 2230. It supports booting the operating system directly from the SSD and offers fast data transfer speeds via PCIe 2.0 (5Gbps) or PCIe 3.0 (8Gbps). A high-efficiency converter delivers up to 3.5A to the SSD, and the design remains compatible with the official Raspberry Pi Active Cooler. A blue LED provides status indication for power and drive activity.
Additional features include a push button that mirrors the Raspberry Pi power button, onboard LEDs for system status, and advanced power-path management to reduce unnecessary battery cycling and extend lifespan.
The X1208 is compatible with the Raspberry Pi 5 and can be used alongside accessories such as the X1100 USB 3.0 to SATA 2.5" HDD/SSD shield, as well as other add-on boards that do not use the PCIe interface and mount beneath the Pi.
Please note: Raspberry Pi, 21700 battery and NVMe device not included.

Specifications
Power input
5Vdc 5A via USB-C (Input current below 5A may cause improper operation.)
The default charging current is set to 1.5A and charge cut-off voltage is 4.23V. before connecting your battery to the UPS board, Please carefully confirm the maximum charging current and voltage, exceeding the upper limit of the charging specification that the battery can withstand will not only cause adverse reactions, but may also cause irreversible damage.
It is essential to read and understand these safety instructions and warnings before charging your batteries.
Lithium Polymer and Li-ion batteries are volatile. Failure to read and follow the instructions below may result in fire, personal injury, and damage to property if charged or used improperly.
Never make a wrong polarity connection when charging or discharging battery packs. Always double-check the polarity of the battery's connector to ensure that "+" is connected to "+" and "-" is connected to "-".
Do not mix and use old batteries with new batteries, or batteries with different brand names.
Lithium batteries have a limited cycle life. Please replace old batteries with new ones when they reach their service life or when they are two years old, whichever comes first.
When charging the Battery Pack, please place the battery in a fireproof container. Do not leave the UPS shield on wood material or carpet unattended.
Keep the UPS shield away from children to ensure their safety.
