The SupTronics X1006 2-Port 2.5"+ M.2 SATA Expansion for Raspberry Pi 5 supports one 2.5" SATA SSD/HDD and one M.2 2280 SATA SSD at up to 5Gbps via PCIe. Fits under the Pi 5, preserves GPIO access, and powers from pogo pins.


Introducing the SupTronics X1006 2-port (2.5" SATA + M.2 SATA) Expansion, designed to provide a mass-capacity data storage and high-speed storage solution via PCIe, for your Raspberry Pi 5.

Note: does not currently support booting from SSD with the existing firmware.

This board facilitates the simultaneous connection of a 2.5" SATA SSD (or HDD) and an M.2 2280 SATA SSD (NOT NVMe), unleashing the full potential of your storage capabilities, with SATA 3.0 interface speeds reaching up to 5Gbps - allowing you to use those SATA drives you have lying around!

The X1006 connects to the underside of the Raspberry Pi 5, eliminating the need for a passthrough for the GPIO. This means you can use your favourite HATs while also utilising this expansion board. The X1006 and your SSDs/HDDs are powered from Raspberry Pi 5 via chunky pogo pins, using your single USB-C power supply for everything.

The X1006 serves as the perfect storage solution for establishing a home media centre or constructing a network-attached storage (NAS) system with a Raspberry Pi 5.

  • Compliant with the Serial ATA 3.0 specification, with backwards compatibility to SATA 2.0 and SATA 1.0
  • Adheres to the PCI-Express v2.0 specification and is backwards compatible with PCI-Express v1.0
  • Supports communication speeds of 5.0 Gbit/s, 3.0 Gbit/s, and 1.5 Gbit/s
  • Compatible with SATA 6G, 3G, and 1.5G hard drives
  • LED indicators display power and drive status
  • Powered from Raspberry Pi 5 via pogo pins
  • Compatible with the official active cooler
  • Supports the HAT+ STANDBY power state, automatically turning off SATA devices when the Pi 5 is powered down

The X1006 is designed for data storage purposes and does not currently support booting from SSD with the existing firmware.
