The SparkFun Red Vision Camera Board – HM01B0 is a breakout for the Himax HM01B0 320x320 colour camera. It supports up to 51 FPS at full resolution, 60 FPS in QVGA mode, or 120 FPS in 2x2 monochrome binning. The board includes motion detection, selectable 24 MHz, 48 MHz, or external clock options, and built-in regulation from 3.3 V to 2.8 V, with I²C communication for control.
The SparkFun Red Vision Camera Board - HM01B0 is a breakout board for the HM01B0 320 x 320 colour camera module from Himax©. The Camera Board breaks out all the pins from the HM01B0's ribbon cable to three sets of 0.1"-spaced plated through-hole (PTH) headers for users to easily access the SparkFun Red Vision Touch Display for Pico to add live image processing as well as advanced features including object and contour detection among others to the Experiential Robotics Platform (XRP) Kit using a SparkFun MicroPython port of the popular OpenCV image processing library. We've included both of these boards in the SparkFun Red Vision Kit for XRP for those who'd like to get everything they need to quickly and easily add a camera and touchscreen display to their XRP Robot with no soldering required. Note: This standalone version of the Red Vision Camera Board - HM01B0 does not come with headers soldered to the board.
The HM01B0 camera module has a 320 x 320 pixel resolution that supports frame rates of up to 51FPS in full resolution (320x320) and up to 60FPS in windowed/QVGA (320x240) operation. The camera module also has a 2x2 monochrome binning mode that supports up to 120FPS if you're looking to maximize frame rate over resolution and colour. The HM01B0 also has a motion detection feature tied to an interrupt output, so you can program it to wake up your camera project whenever it senses motion. The video data interface communicates over a configurable 1, 4, or 8-bit interface that features both a video frame for synchronizing multiple cameras and line sync for creating a composite image from two cameras. The HM01B0 operates over an I2C serial interface.
The Red Vision Camera Board - HM01B0 offers three oscillator options for the camera module. It defaults to use the on-board 24MHz oscillator, but also includes solder jumpers to switch to the HM01B0's internal 48MHz oscillator or to use an external clock input through the HM01B0's Clock (CLK) pin. Users should only select one of the three clock inputs to avoid undefined behaviour or damage to the module. It also handles voltage regulation to the HM01B0 to drop the (expected) 3.3V supply voltage down to 2.8V.
