This add-on board for Raspberry Pi 5 gives your Pi four fast USB 3.2 Gen1 ports for connecting additional peripherals, gamepads, flash drives and more!
The board utilises the PCIe interface on Raspberry Pi 5 to provide these additional ports, allowing fast USB 3.2 Gen1 speeds and keeping your GPIO pins free for your projects. Your Raspberry Pi 5 will detect these ports without the need for any driver installation.
Per-port power control is also made possible via the onboard INA219 power monitoring chip, allowing the use of tools such as uhubctl via the terminal to switch each port's power on/off individually.
The board allows a maximum current, per port, of 2A and a maximum overall output of 2.6A when only using the Raspberry Pi for power - however, a USB-C port is provided for adding an additional power supply for the USB ports.
The board also includes a central cut-out in the PCB to allow airflow for other cooling devices, such as the Raspberry Pi Active Cooler.
Raspberry Pi, Power supply and Active Cooler not included.
1) Raspberry Pi GPIO header
- For connecting Raspberry Pi 5
2) USB 3.2 Gen1 expanded ports
- USB1~USB4
3) INA219
- Power monitoring chip
4) Power port
- For external Type-C 5V DC power supply
5) PWR LED
- Power indicator
6) MX25L3206
- FLASH chip
7) VL805
- PCIe to USB 3.2 Gen1 HUB
8) PCIe interface
- For connecting to the PCIe interface of Raspberry Pi 5
Note: GPIO control of USB power is not possible by default (terminal control only). It can be enabled by soldering tiny SMT components on the board, however, we do not recommend this for most users unless you have the tools and experience to do this.
