The PaperS3 is a low-power e-ink display controller, powered by the ESP32-S3 microcontroller. It has a 4.7" touch e-ink screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 and has 16 levels of grayscale. It uses a GT911 capacitive touch panel that gives you dual-point touch and gesture controls. Unlike the usual LCD screens, the e-ink display has a better reading experience with easy-to-read text, low power consumption, and the ability to retain images even when powered off.

It also includes a gyroscope sensor, a buzzer, physical buttons, wake-up actions like lifting and power on/off controls. It also has a MicroSD card slot for additional storage and is equipped with the ESP32-S3R8 chip with 8MB of PSRAM. An external 16MB flash memory chip adds more storage capacity and faster data access.

There is an 1800mAh lithium battery with charging support, along with an internal RTC (BM8563) that provides sleep and wake-up functionality for extended battery life. A built-in battery detection circuit monitors the battery status in real time, helping maintain the battery for the long run. A USB-C port is at the bottom of the screen for power. 

In terms of expansion, the back of the PaperS3 includes an open HC1.25-4P connection for adding external sensors and devices. It also supports OTG, letting you use more devices to connect and exchange data easily.

Note: Due to timing issues with the QC3.0/2.0 protocol in M5PaperS3 firmware, there is a risk of PD generating high voltage and damaging the device. For now, please refrain from using QC3.0/2.0 chargers to charge M5PaperS3.
