E-Key slots are commonly used for M.2 E-Key wireless network interface cards (NICs), providing a network option via fast PCIe interfaces.
This HAT from Waveshare provides just that for your Raspberry Pi 5. The HAT connects to your Pi via PCIe (GPIO ports are left alone), and gives you a single M.2 E-Key slot for a 2230-format wireless card.
The board also features power and activity LEDs, a cut-out to allow airflow for active coolers sitting beneath it, and a USB BT header (and included cable) which supports Bluetooth signal input to the Raspberry Pi via USB (although the Waveshare documentation for BT USB communication appears to be lacking).
Important: When selecting a network card, ensure it uses the M.2 E-Key interface and has good support for the operating system you are using with your Raspberry Pi.
