The Grove Smart IR Gesture Sensor includes an infrared camera module (PAG7646J1) and an image signal processor (PAG7661QN), along with an LED light to help with visibility in low light. The sensor works by using image recognition to identify hand gestures captured by the infrared camera. It can recognise a variety of hand gestures, such as different finger movements (like pushing, pinching, tapping, grabbing, and rotating), static gestures with 1 to 5 fingers, and swipes. It can detect these gestures within a range of 5 to 40 cm, providing effective gesture recognition.
It works well with the XIAO series interface and is compatible with Arduino systems through a Grove connector and an I2C interface. The sensor allows for flexibility in data retrieval and display: you can get gesture data via an MCU connected through the SPI pinhole, or display images on a PC using the Type-C interface.
