The Grove - I2C Motor Driver (TB6612FNG) is a dual-channel motor controller capable of driving two DC motors or one stepper motor up to 12V at 1.2A. It’s based on the TB6612FNG driver IC, which uses low-resistance LD MOS output transistors for efficient operation. The board supports four control modes: clockwise (CW), counterclockwise (CCW), short brake, and stop.
With an onboard microcontroller and Grove I2C interface, this module integrates easily with Grove-compatible microcontrollers without the need for complex wiring. The I2C address is configurable (default 0x14), making it suitable for systems with multiple devices on the same bus.
Additional features include thermal shutdown, low-voltage detection, and a standby mode for power saving. The board operates at 3.3V or 5V logic and supports motor supply voltages from 2.5V to 13.5V (typical 5V, max 15V). It’s compact and lightweight, measuring 60 × 40 × 12mm and weighing 13g.
