The Pi Hut1.3" OLED Display Module (128x64)
Sale price £6 incl. VAT excl. VAT

This is a simple, affordable OLED display module to add to your projects using your favourite microcontroller.

This 0.96" OLED has a 128x64 resolution and is driven by the popular SSD1306 using I2C for communication with your microcontroller - meaning it will work for lots of code libraries for various boards and programming languages. When showing data, the text is white.

The pins are pre-soldered and can be popped straight into a breadboard, ready to hook up with jumper wires.

We use them with the Raspberry Pi Pico all the time - in fact, we included a similar display in our Maker Advent Calendar, so you can re-use a lot of the examples from that day's article - just change the display setup line to the right resolution, like this: display = SSD1306_I2C(128, 64, i2c).

We also stock a similar 1.3" OLED display.

Features

  • 0.96" OLED display
  • 128x64 resolution
  • SSD1306 driver - lots of compatible code libraries
  • I2C communication
  • Breadboard-compatible
  • White text

Pinout

The OLED display has four pins. Connect them as follows:

Display MicroController
VCC 3.3V
GND GND pin
SCL I2C SCL pin
SDA I2C SDA Pin

Care: Not all OLED displays use the same pin order - check before following the wiring from a tutorial!

Good value. All one colour, which is good. The two colour displays are deceptive as the colour area is fixed, top 1/4 of the display and there is a small gap between. Documentation is good and loads of examples 😁

0.96" OLED Display Module (128x64)
This works great on a RPI5 as well: 1) in /boot/firmware/config.txt, enable dtparam=i2c_arm=on 2) Wire up the 4pins per the RPI5 GPIO headers 3) Use https://github.com/rm-hull/luma.oled instead of micropython The Luma.oled project has a lot of examples that would be useful for a display of this size and the code is nice to work with. Note: The I2C controller that is software based doesn't work well with this device, only the hardware based one works correctly

0.96" OLED Display Module (128x64)
It's February 2025, I ordered this back in November 2024, but only got to use it this month. On trying it I discovered a problem in that it only displayed 32 rows of 128 columns rather than the advertised 64. I contacted support and they immediately arranged a return and replacement. Within a couple of days I had my replacement which works perfectly. Any product can have a problem and it's how that probem is dealt with that I think makes the difference. Really prompt and helpful aftersales service, quite some time after my original purchase is a real plus and confirms my choice of The PiHut as my go to supplier. Couldn't be happier.

I like these little displays, perfect for building into temperature control systems, I used a DS18B20 sensor to indictae hot water temp and with a couple of touch buttons all worked great. Order processed quickly and arrived on time, as usual with PiHut...!
