2.9" Red/Black/White E-Ink E-Paper Display Module for Raspberry Pi Pico (296×128)
Hardware: fantastic, compact, really well put together.
Software: this is pico specific hardware, so be cautious if you're expect extensive micropython libraries... AFAICT support is currently (Apr 23) limited to lines, rectangles, single font text in landscape format. This may change of course. https://github.com/waveshare/Pico_ePaper_Code/blob/main/python/Pico_ePaper-2.9-B.py
The additional python code in the support repo (https://github.com/waveshare/Pico_ePaper_Code/tree/main/pythonNanoGui) doesn't work on pico.

2.9" Red/Black/White E-Ink E-Paper Display Module for Raspberry Pi Pico (296×128)
This is a review of the device and my experience with The Pi Hut.
In the first instance, the device turned up damaged unfortunately. My suspicion was that it was damaged in transit despite being packaged carefully. A quick email to support arranged for a return to base - using pre-printed labels - and I had a new device with me in short order. I can't remember exact timing, but was only a couple of days. Good communication from support team (Billie IIRC), so I was happy. These things happen.
Next, the display itself. Initially, I struggled to get the device working with my Arduino Nano RP2040, but I'm fairly sure that's just my inexperience with the particular Arduino libraries required. I swapped to using an RPi Pico and the Waveshare examples (Python) and I managed to get the device working quite quickly then - I suspect I had a wiring issue with the Nano!
The display is very slow to display a whole page but, when you look into how the technology works, you can appreciate why and it is very suited for its intended purposes - longer term display of images, such as pricing labels in a supermarket, etc. The contrast inside and outside in bright sunshine is excellent and very readable. (Sorry that the attached images are not varied - was something knocked up v. quickly).
The images show inside (good contrast), inside in shade (ok, but muted), and outside on a glorious British sunny day (superb colour depth and contrast).

An amazing little display. Bit tricky getting it going with a pi pico but worked out of the box with minimum hassle.
