PoE Switch HAT Case Assembly
The laser-cut parts of the case are protected by an adhesive film which needs to be removed before assembly.
Bill of Materials
- Raspberry Pi B+ / 2 / 3
- 9x Acrylic plates
- 4x M2.5 x 18mm M/F Stand Off
- 4x M2.5 x 16mm F/F Stand Off
- 4x M2.5 x 8mm M/F Stand Off
- 8x Black Screw
NOTE: Acrylic is a hard and stiff plastic which is sensitive to stress concentrations and shares a certain level of fragility with glass. Assembly must be completed with care as parts will snap or fracture if forced. Acrylic can scratch easily and should be cleaned with a mild solution of dish detergent and warm water. Never use cleaners unsuitable for acrylic. Never use a dry, abrasive cloth.
Here are the parts from the case kit:
Follow these images checking parts and orientation of the acrylic pieces. You will see a before and after image for each step. Make sure you have all the parts ready, shown in the before picture.
Starting with the bottom plate, secure the 4 8mm M/F stand offs using 4 of the black screws.
Now place the Raspberry Pi onto the 8mm stand offs and fasten using the 4 16mm F/F stand offs.
Now we need to plug the PoE Switch HAT on to the RPi GPIO and secure using the 18mm M/F stand offs.
Now we need to add the side plates, 1 by 1.
Start with the ethernet/usb port plate.
Then the opposite side. The plate with the sd card slot cut out.
Next, carefully insert the HDMI side plate. Start by aligning the bottom pips of the plate with the cut outs in the bottom plate, leaving the side plate at a slight angle. Then slowly bring the plate up to vertical.
Now add the little PoE plate. Make sure the orientation of this piece is correct. The edge that the two ethernet cut outs are closer to is the edge you need to insert into the HDMI side plate.
Now add the opposite side plate.
This little plate is just a press fit. Start by inserting it at a slight angle, then press it down into place.
Next, remove our little button stalk from its surrounding.
Now this bit is a bit fiddly and will probably take a couple of attempts. We need to balance the button stalk on top of the button on the PoE HAT.
With the button stalk balanced, carefully attach the lid and secure using the remaining 4 black screws.
Add that's it, case assembled!
