The SupTronics X1011 is a high-capacity storage expansion board for the Raspberry Pi 5, offering support for up to four M.2 2280 NVMe SSDs in either 2280, 2260, 2242, or 2230-format. It connects via PCIe 2.0, supporting transfer speeds up to 5Gbps—ideal for applications like NAS builds or large local media libraries.
The board connects to your Raspberry Pi 5's PCIe interface and uses an ASmedia ASM1184e PCIe switch chip to facilitate data transfer between the four PCIe interfaces it provides, with PCIe Gen2 support.
The board connects to the underside of the Raspberry Pi 5, keeping the GPIO header free for HATs, coolers and other hardware. It also offers two power options: either draw power from the Pi via pogo pins and USB-C, or power the Pi through the X1011 using a standard DC barrel jack (5V 5A).
Standoffs are included to secure the board to your Raspberry Pi 5. A built-in status LED shows read/write activity at a glance.
Warning: Don't power the X1011 via DC power jack and the Raspberry Pi via USB-C at the same time. Bad stuff will happen!

As with all M.2 NVMe adapters for Raspberry Pi 5, certain models of M.2 NVMe SSD (usually with a Phison controller) are best avoided due to compatibility issues.
The following models have been highlighted by SupTronics as having poor compatibility, however other online resources will highlight further models/brands to avoid:
