M5Stack StackChan

The M5Stack StackChan - Kawaii Co-Created Open-Source AI Desktop Robot is a compact, customisable desktop robot designed for interactive AI and maker projects.

Co-created by M5Stack and its user community, StackChan is built around the CoreS3 platform with an ESP32-S3 processor, offering Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity along with 16MB Flash and 8MB PSRAM for running applications and AI features.

It features a 2.0" touchscreen used as an animated face, along with a camera, microphones, speaker, and sensors to enable voice interaction, visual input, and expressive behaviour. Two servo motors provide pan and tilt movement, giving the robot a range of lifelike motions and personality.

Designed as an open-source platform, StackChan can be programmed using tools such as Arduino, UiFlow2, or other supported environments, making it suitable for experimenting with AI assistants, smart home control, and interactive robotics. Its open design and active community allow users to customise both hardware and software, extending functionality and creating unique behaviours.

Important Information

• Motor Safety: Do not forcibly rotate any movable parts connected to the motors by hand when you are unsure whether the motors are powered and under control, as this may cause hardware damage.
• Motion Angle Notice: The movement angle of the StackChan Y-axis servo (vertical direction) is recommended to be controlled within 5 ~ 85°. Operating at extreme angles may cause servo stall and permanent damage. No angle restriction is required for the X-axis.
