mmWave Radar - Human Presence Detection
Bought this sensor for my DYI burglar alarm. Unfortunately, the module produces too many false positives. Even after reconfiguring it for a very short detection range, it still generates 10+ false positives every hour, which is too much for my use case.

mmWave Radar - Human Presence Detection
It's a bit of a pickle to set up if you're new to all this - I wanted to use it with a D1 Mini and Home Assistant. I followed several written and video 'step by step' examples - that weren't - but managed to get there in the end and learnt a lot of new swear words and CL commands.
The device itself is well-made and responsive. The controls that come with the repo I used are very useful and great for tweaking e.g. sensitivity, range etc. but the availability of these will depend on your setup.
All said and done, most people (myself included), would be better off spending the money on several PIRs. Whilst it's nice to play with, and is a great product, it's so much more affordable, and practical, to use PIRs - at least for my general use cases.

mmWave Radar - Human Presence Detection
This board has a super sensitive sensor which is easy to configure when paired with ESPHome and thereby Home Assistant. Using the header minus a few pins it soldered on neatly to a Weimos D1 Mini, with only one wire outside the header. This made for a snug assembly that fitted in an old RPi enclosure. Software setup was a matter of copy and paste from the Everything Smart Home blog with all the tweaking done from the Home Assistant dashboard.

mmWave Radar - Human Presence Detection
Not the cheapest, but it WORKS. I'm using this to control our kitchen lighting.
I tried with PIR sensors - if you stop moving, the lights turn off after the pre-set time!
Normal radar sensors false trigger in the middle of the night, and at least 50 times during the day.
This works! GPIO2 goes high when a human is present, moving or stationary, and low when you leave the area. Lots of configuration options. The GPIO is 3.3V logic, which wasn't mentioned anywhere. Powering it from 5V. Running for 3 weeks now with no false triggers or dropouts.
