Packing the powerful ESP32-S3 microcontroller, this compact capacitive touch display USB-C dev board from Waveshare offers a range of useful features in a tidy package.
The microcontroller chip is a ESP32-S3R8 - a high-performance Xtensa 32-bit LX7 dual-core processor (up to 240MHz), supporting 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5 (LE), with an onboard ceramic antenna. It's backed up by 16MB flash sitting right next to it on the PCB.
The display is a 1.47" IPS capacitive touchscreen panel with a 172x320 resolution, offering 262k colours. It has an I2C touch interface, reducing the number of IO pins used for touch inputs.
You'll also find a MicroSD slot, RESET and BOOT buttons, and USB-C for power and programming.
There are two versions of this board - one with the headers loose in the package, and another with them pre-soldered to the board. Please select an option before adding to your cart.
Secret features? Whilst not documented by Waveshare, there is an ETA6098 Li-Ion battery charger chip onboard. We think this is for use with the VBAT pin (for wiring a LiPo battery directly and charging via USB-C), however we have asked Waveshare to clarify.
