This little two-faced cutie is so versatile! Its WiFi half can be used to make Internet of Things devices cable-free or we also love to take advantage of a single-board Linux computer's USB ports to add a low-cost, but high-reliability wireless link. The Bluetooth side of things can be used for all kinds of BLE connectivity projects and devices. It's great for when you only have a single USB port (a.k.a. Raspberry Pi A+ or BeagleBone) as there's no need for a hub to add both types of wireless.

If you only need a WiFi Module, we love our Miniature WiFi Module and our beefier USB WiFi Module. For just Bluetooth our Bluetooth 4.0 USB Module is killer.

Drivers for Bluetooth modules are built into Windows 10+ so you do not need to install any software or download anything. Just plug it in and let Windows auto-install the BT driver, it may take a few minutes!

For Linux, a kernel module install is required, but given the RTL8723BU is the only chipset available it wasn't too bad. A tutorial is at https://raspmer.blogspot.com/2018/07/mantistek-wa150-wifibluetooth-rtl8723bu.html - we ran it on a Raspberry Pi Zero and it worked, just took a while to complete the install.

General Description

The Realtek RTL8723BU is an 802.11bgn 2.4G single-chip that integrates Wireless LAN (WLAN) and a network USB interface (USB 1.0/1.1/2.0 compatible) controller with an integrated Bluetooth 2.1/3.0/4.0 controller. It combines a WLAN MAC, a 1T1R capable WLAN baseband, and WLAN RF in a single chip. The RTL8723BU provides a complete solution for a high-throughput performance and low power consumption integrated wireless LAN device.
