The Argon ONE UP Shell is an Open Source laptop shell for your Compute Module 5 - just add your CM5, an M.2 NVMe SSD, and a 45W USB-C PD power supply, and you've got yourself an Open Source, upgradeable Raspberry Pi laptop!
The laptop has a full aluminium chassis supporting the 1920x1200 14" IPS display, with a 2.0MP 1080p front camera just above it. The body also holds dual microphones and stereo speakers along with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a HDMI 2.0 port, an M.2 M-key slot for NVMe SSDs, 2x USB-A ports and 2x USB-C modified ports.
The USB-C ports work together with the included Argon ONE UP GPIO Module, providing full 40-pin GPIO access into compact laptop form. When not connected, one of the USB-C ports runs at USB 2.0 spec (no data via the other port).
Power is provided by the 54Wh 4800mAh Li-polymer battery (fixed but serviceable), providing a stated 6-8 hours run time (dependant on usage). A built-in fan keeps your CM5 and other components cool, supported by the large Argon THRML heatsink along the bottom of the laptop shell body.
It supports all CM5-compatible operating systems, such as Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu, Debian etc.
CM5, NVMe/MicroSD and power supply not included.
Jeff is honest and fair with his reviews, so we think everyone should watch his Argon ONE UP video before buying.
There are some points that might be deal-breakers for you, which may be just fine for others, but either way, we'd much prefer it if you made an informed purchase.
