The Arduino BugHopper is a compact USB-to-UART bridge board designed to bring straightforward remote debugging to Arduino UNO Q and Ventuno Q via its JCTL 2.54 mm connector.

Built around the FT230XQ, the BugHopper provides a reliable, high-speed serial link between your development machine and the target board, enabling advanced debugging and logging without occupying the board's main I/O pins. Its compact 38.5 × 11 mm footprint, USB-C connectivity, and multiple header options make it easy to integrate into any workspace, enclosure, or automated test setup.

In addition, onboard LEDs clearly indicate the status of 5V, 3.3V, and VTARGET power rails at a glance.

BugHopper simplifies debug and Linux console access and helps you keep your UNO Q projects running smoothly.

  • Dedicated debugging without sacrificing I/Os: The USB-to-UART connection preserves your UNO Q main I/Os for sensors, actuators, and other peripherals
  • Plug-and-play connectivity: Works seamlessly with standard FTDI drivers and terminal software for immediate debugging, logging, and firmware flashing
  • Compact and integration-friendly: Small footprint fits benchtop setups, tight enclosures, or permanent installations without adding bulk
  • USB-C connection: Standard connector ensures compatibility with multiple development machines
  • Visual status at a glance: Onboard LEDs indicate power rail status for instant troubleshooting

¹ V_TARGET is a voltage input to the BugHopper supplied by the connected target board through the JCTL 2.54 mm connector. The BugHopper uses this voltage as the reference for the level translator (target side) and the V_TARGET status LED. The actual V_TARGET value depends on the connected board.
