The ALS PT19 is a tiny RoHS-compliant analogue ambient light sensor with strong IR rejection for a human-eye-like response. Power it from 2.5V–5.5V, read the OUT pin, and the voltage rises as light levels increase.
The Adafruit ALS PT19 analogue light sensor is a tiny, straightforward way to add ambient light sensing to your project, and a great upgrade if you’re currently using a photocell but need RoHS compliance. It has a high rejection ratio for infrared radiation, so its spectral response is closer to human eye sensitivity, making it well suited for general light-level detection.
Wiring is simple: connect – to ground, + to a 2.5V–5.5V supply, then read the analogue output voltage from the OUT pin. As the sensor detects more light, the output voltage increases.
