Whilst you can buy adapters with a fixed configuration, this USB adapter kit allows building up any mix of male/female and USB-A/USB-C/Micro-USB adapter by just plugging them together with the included header pins!
You can also use them as breakout boards giving access to 5V, USB D+/N-, inject or isolate 5V, as a tap to measure current etc by using your own 2.54mm pitch connectors.
Of the 6 pins on the connector boards, two are used for 5V and two for ground, to help reduce voltage drop when using higher currents. Make sure you align the pin numbering with each adapter when joining.
Now with USB-C!
The new USB-C adapters have jumpers to select either 10k pull-up (DFP - Downstream-facing port supplying power) capable of 3A max or 5.1k pull-down (UFP - upstream-facing device) on the CC1/CC2 pins (both jumpers should be set to the same position for normal use).
They also break out VBUS, SBUS1, SBUS2, CC1, CC2 and GND pins to a 6-pin header which allows other resistor values to be connected to the CC pins, check the voltages on the CC pins and also access the other pins on the USB2 USB-C connector.
