This TTL to RS485 converter converts the TTL signal into a differential RS485 signal for interface converting, expanding nodes, and long-distance communication. Using the RICE features (Relay, Isolate, Convert, and Expand) it does the following -
- Relay - Communication distance of up to 1.2km
- Isolate - Power and signal isolation
- Convert - TTL to RS485 bi-directional conversion
- Expand - RS485 can be expanded up to 32 nodes
It has multiple protection features to make it safe and stable, including isolated voltage, strong anti-interference, lightning-proof diodes and a TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) that acts as a diversion of power when there are surges or spikes that could damage equipment downstream.
On top of that, it also comes with rail mount support, so you can easily combine multi-rail-mounted serial servers together. This is one converter you don't want to miss out on!

For those who are unaware of the difference, the RS422 can have up to 10 transmitter-receiver pairs present on the line at one time, whereas the RS485 can have up to 32.

TTL to RS485 Galvanic Isolated Converter
Nicly built, and at a reasonable price. One of the problems with RS485, is that it's not electrically isolated as standard. Ethernet (RJ45) is. There are plenty of low cost RS485 modules out there, but few of them are isolated, and those that are usually carry a high premium. So this was a nice find, and works great. Oh, and also nice to have a switchable terminator. Usually these are either absent or you have to get your soldering iron out. Top marks.
