The HiFiBerry Studio ADC for Raspberry Pi is a dual-channel ADC with balanced XLR/6.5mm phone jack combo input. It can be simply plugged onto your Raspberry Pi, without any soldering.
This is our Studio ADC with a pair of XLR jacks/phone combo jacks. The inputs are fully balanced, and it is specifically designed for applications that only require input functionalities for balanced audio sources.
Does this make sense? Absolutely—depending on your needs. Think of a device that records audio in the field and transmits it to a central server, or one that simply records and analyses audio. We’ve seen this work well for applications like bat monitoring, where no audio output is required.
It is strongly recommended to mount this board into a solid metal case. Otherwise, mechanical stress while plugging/unplugging XLR connectors might damage the XLR connectors.
Note that there is no phantom power available on the inputs
