Juice matters
With USB-style 5V devices, cable resistance and connector losses can cause the voltage at the board to sag below 5V when current increases. By starting at around 5.2V at the power supply and holding that under load, the ThunderVolt helps ensure your Bitaxe still sees a healthy voltage at the PCB, instead of dipping into marginal territory when you increase hashrate or fan speed.
