Awesome Extras

The Binho Nova Multi-Protocol USB Host Adapter allows you to interface your computer directly to hardware circuits. This device is powered by the USB connection to the host PC and is also able to provide downstream power to test circuits. This learn guide details how to use a Binho Nova with CircuitPython libraries to interface with sensors and components via I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit), SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface), GPIO's (General Purpose Input/Output), or UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter).

The Binho Nova Multi-Protocol USB Host Adapter utilizes the standardized USB Communications Device Class (UART CDC) driver in order to achieve maximum compatibility with as many systems as possible. As such, there's no driver to download and install for most modern operating systems (OS).

This is a great way to program hardware device interaction from the comfort of your computer, no need for any microcontroller programming. Often used for test-suite design in manufacturing, we think this could have many other purposes for interfacing or hacking. Best of all, there's Blinka support so you can use our huge collection of CircuitPython libraries for all sorts of chips and sensor interfacing!

Includes:

  • Breadboard breakout adapter (As of Dec 7, 2020 this now comes assembled!)
  • 1 foot long USB-C cable (male) to USB type A (male)
  • Nice soft-shell zippered case

Certain operating systems, like Mac and Ubuntu, may require additional permissions to start using Binho Nova. In addition, Windows 7 does not have the standard USB CDC driver included as default.
