2-Channel Isolated CAN HAT for Raspberry Pi

I needed this to connect to the canbus output from two 100AH 48V solar batteries for monitoring. It is isolated which is an added bonus. Worked straight away and I am delighted for such a relatively modest outlay.

Got up and running straight away using the python-can library, following the setup guide on the wavshare wiki. Board works flawlessly and having the two interfaces is really useful for development prior to integrating into a vehicle bus etc.

2-Channel Isolated CAN HAT for Raspberry Pi

It works well and is very nicely manufactured. For my application I needed to use hardware filtering and this required a modified version of the Linux Kernel socketCAN driver in order to support individual filtering for both of the on board MCP2515 devices (the Linux kernel only supports software filtering which struggles to cope with high levels of CAN bus traffic, hardware filtering solves this problem). Next day delivery. Dead easy to set up following the instructions on the https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/2-CH_CAN_HAT website. Had it monitoring my CAN bus in no time with candump and was able to get my CANOpen examples working quickly too. Such a great product. The PCB screw terminals meant no soldering was necessary to connect to my CAN bus. Handy plastic feel to keep it proud of my Raspberry Pi. Very happy with my purchase. At that price, much cheaper than buying a USB-CAN dongle.
