Picade - Raspberry Pi Arcade Machine (8" display) [Discontinued]
I bought this product as a gift so I can't give too many details about the actual workings of it but from what I can see and understand it's a really great product. The packaging is really smart and looks high quality. Building the picade itself took my husband a few hours and the instructions were sufficient. The machine itself is again, high quality and a good size. The programming seems complicated but in a way that is a good challenge rather than impossible. Overall would highly recommend.

Picade - Raspberry Pi Arcade Machine (8" display) [Discontinued]
Used with a Pi 4 4GB, Building took myself most of afternoon, Good sturdy little unit doesnt take up to much room and fairly decent audio. Instructions provided wasnt the best but picade have section by section vids on youtube. Great way to kill the lockdown.
unfortunatly the acrylic for screen arrived damaged but replacement was shipped the morning after submiting request so support seems top notch.

Picade - Raspberry Pi Arcade Machine (8" display) [Discontinued]
Rubbish product, missing pieces, instructions are really bad. Read about a lot of issues just trying to get buttons and joystick to actually work. Returned after getting fed up waiting for missing parts to arrive.

Picade - Raspberry Pi Arcade Machine (8" display) [Discontinued]
Quality is ok. Instructions aren’t great and attaching the screen is super finicky. Even video doesn’t show you how to do it really.
A sheet with part and screw identification would be great
Once done it is cool.
Another thing that isn’t great is that the screen is attached upside down and that affects image quality

Picade - Raspberry Pi Arcade Machine (8" display) [Discontinued]
A great little arcade tabletop which I had previously passed up on due to designing my own which hasn't left the blueprint process (so far).
The materials used are strong and have a great finish to them, the sandwiching of the artwork not only means you have a tough surface but the templates mean you can switch out the included artwork for a print out design of your own.
The back panel at first worried me when I was building the cabinet as I thought it wouldnt hold up and may be loose or even fall off, however once I had put it all together I was glad to find the back panel is not only sturdy and secure but also the ease of access means plugging and unplugging usb peripherals is a breeze.
There were some minor issues following a video guide which seemed to be a bit clumsily put together which could have been easily fixed with editing over mistakes or doing things a more awkward way than necessary but did help with the general step by step process overall.
I'd suggest people taking on this project be aware that the spades that push onto the power button are slightly awkward to slide on, however I found it much easier to just unscrew the button and connect them out in the open rather than trying to squeeze them on inside the confined space of the cabinet.
The end result is a great little coin op arcade, the software side of things took some fiddling with for the controls but nothing you can't find help with on the forums, only the MAME side of things proved an issue in this regard though, the buttons just weren't being mapped properly due to clashing inputs.
I had a bit of damage on the back corner of one of the side panels but nothing a little handy work couldn't disguise, it looked like a screw hole was being punched through and ripped up the black veneer coating, then once the build was complete I realised there wasn't even a screw hole meant to be in that corner :-S
Improvement suggestions are few because everything works fine so is merely down to my own confusion as to missed opportunities in the design.
First would be that the arcade uses a mono speaker on the underside of the cabinet, this could have easily have been two small stereo speakers with small pepper holes on the sides of the cabinet, there is plenty of room to mod this in however and wouldn't take much effort.
A volume control hard wired to either buttons or a knob would have been useful, I understand these can be programmed to button shortcuts to control the software output volume but the convenience of a simple volume knob would have been better in my opinion.
The top marquee are has a gap facing down onto the screen and a huge hole for accessing the back panel release, I'd have much rather had one extra piece to make the marquee housed without bleeding what I feel would have been a welcome throw in feature which is a simple usb led strip to place being the marquee.
Yes its a minor niggle but the effort of having such a good perspex marquee seems to be a bit of a waste given that with just one extra panel and a redesign of the back panel release along with a cheap as chips usb led strip would have made use of the perspex panelled marquee.
The buttons and joystick all seem solid and just as good as the Sanwa buttons and joystick I have in another project, the colour scheme of the buttons is fine but for those that are wondering, they can easily be replaced by purchasing some other buttons and a joystick topper if prefered.
Overall I would be happy to recommend this and the only reason it didn't get a 5 is because of the few niggling missed opportunity design choices and maybe the price could have been a little lower, even at a reduced price (£120 down from £150) I feel there is still room for shaving it down to £100 for the 8 inch version given that it doesn't come with a power supply or Pi.
4/5 Stars, A fab little cab.

Picade - Raspberry Pi Arcade Machine (8" display) [Discontinued]
Well put together package, I built this using a Raspberry Pi 4. One thing to note, currently Retropie (the emulator recommended for the Picade) does not support the Pi 4 yet.. you will have to build it from source.
